SAFERSEA
IN PROGRESS
Project Title
SAFERSEA - Smarter and Eco-friendly Atlantic Area
Acronym
SAFERSEA
Dates
01/10/2023 - 30/09/2026
Project Description
The Atlantic Ocean is a crucial shipping area and serves as a gateway to Europe. More and more goods and ships are expected to pass through this region in the coming decades. While this increase in shipping is good for trade, it also means that shipping has a greater impact on the environment. To address this, the SaferSEA project aims to raise awareness of the challenges faced by the shipping industry.
The main goal of the project is to help create a safer and greener maritime sector. They want to provide ready-made solutions to support the industry in becoming more environmentally friendly. SaferSEA plans to encourage the development of new technologies for both ships and ports, and to build stronger links between different groups involved in maritime transport – such as shippers, port authorities, researchers and innovative start-ups. The overall goal is to help the maritime sector transition to a more environmentally conscious and sustainable future.
